Suspicious device found on UPS truck in New York; planes searched at 2 airports

Apparently there were bombs disguised as ink toner cartridges on board a plane from Yemen to Chicago. They were found when they stopped over in London. This just reminds me that we are still not safe from terror today. I hope justice is served and nothing traumatic happens out of all this.

[Update 11:31 a.m.] Investigators in the United Kingdom found a suspicious device containing a "manipulated" toner cartridge aboard a plane flying from Yemen to Chicago when it stopped in London on Thursday night - one reason for heightened concern at U.S. airports on Friday, a law-enforcement source with detailed knowledge of the investigation said. The device tested negative for explosive material.

Bugs Suck!

So I started thinking of a great gift to send to my mom for her birthday this year. I was on Amazon and looking up some household stuff since she loves those little things. Anyways, so I saw this cool product called a bug vacuum. Its basically a hand held vacuum that sucks up those little pesky critters without having to get close or making a mess that you always have to clean up afterwards. This one in particular has a built in zapper. Once you have all the creepy crawlers trapped in the container you simply give them a high voltage charge and ZAP! Instant fried insects! They even make ones that look like guns (that just rhymed). I know she'll love this years gift!

Ultimate Ear earphones

I started looking into getting a new pair of headphones since the ones that came with my iPod have broken down (not surprised). I want to get an in-ear style earphone because they actually stay in my ear as well as fit comfortably. After reviewing a bunch of brands, I found that Ultimate Ear earphones had the best reviews. I found this site that had a good amount of info.

Which Tanning Bed Do I Choose?

So I started hitting up the tanning salons to get ready for the wedding of my best friend. I normally tan by staying out in the sun, but since I don't have much time I decided to use a tanning booth. I started researching and trying to figure out which one is best for me. Turns out there are so many options, which I guess is a good thing for me. Just don't get burned!
I found some great info on commercial tanning beds here.

Smart TV

I'm really excited for Google TV! I think it'll be better than the Apple TV. I believe its coming out this month. The Logitech products are awesome!

Mini HDMI vs Micro HDMI

So I just purchased that Sony DSLR camera I mentioned on my previous post and I started realizing how to connect my camera to my HD television. Apparently you need a mini HDMI to HDMI cable, which can be confused with a micro HDMI to HDMI cable. A mini HDMI looks like a smaller type A connector, whereas a micro HDMI cable looks like a mini usb plug. Oh and also, a micro HDMI only works with mobile and smart phones capable of transmitting in high definition.
I know this all sounds confusing, but this site helped me figure it all out. Plus they have some links to some good reviews and prices.

For starters here's a pretty sic site I found that has the latest info on these cameras.

Energy Savers: Radiant Heating

Radiant Heating

Radiant heating systems involve supplying heat directly to the floor or to panels in the wall or ceiling of a house. The systems depend largely on radiant heat transfer: the delivery of heat directly from the hot surface to the people and objects in the room via the radiation of heat, which is also called infrared radiation. Radiant heating is the effect you feel when you can feel the warmth of a hot stovetop element from across the room. When radiant heating is located in the floor, it is often called radiant floor heating or simply floor heating.
Radiant heating has a number of advantages: it is more efficient than baseboard heating and usually more efficient than forced-air heating because no energy is lost through ducts. The lack of moving air can also be advantageous to people with severe allergies. Hydronic (liquid-based) systems use little electricity, a benefit for homes off the power grid or in areas with high electricity prices. The hydronic systems can also be heated with a wide variety of energy sources, including standard gas- or oil-fired boilers, wood-fired boilers, solar water heaters, or some combination of these heat sources.
Despite their name, radiant floor heating systems also depend heavily on convection, the natural circulation of heat within a room, caused by heat rising from the floor. Radiant floor heating systems are significantly different than the radiant panels used in walls and ceilings. For this reason, the following sections discuss radiant floor heat and radiant panels separately.

Electric Floor Heaters

Electric floor heaters have become a popular heating method in recent years for keeping homes warm and at the same time its very energy efficient. The ability to adjust the warmth of a room with full control while using the least amount of energy makes this system a popular upgrade to any home.
There are basically two types of floor heating systems, Electric Floor Heaters and Hot Water Heater Systems. Both are based on the same concept of wires or hollow tubes that our insulated and woven across an insulated mat forming a wire mesh. The wires are then electrically heated and captured to produce the radiant heat. These mats are placed beneath the floor along with thermal insulation boards which are used trap the heat as the wires/tubes emit heat.

Since the electric floor heater system is designed with flexible components, the rolls of mesh containing the wiring systems are easy to install and retro-fit to the flooring system of many homes. They also take up less space and the control system doesn’t require any major installation, which is why the process is popular for the do-it-yourself types. Although it is recommended you hire a professional for installation, you can purchase these products yourself from many manufactures. Most systems are even backed up by a warranty that’s fully transferable to the next owner.

There are different types of electric floor heaters depending on the type of flooring you have. These mats can be installed under practically every flooring type such as laminate, tile, carpet, hardwood and stone.
As I had mentioned earlier the electric floor heaters are very efficient. For those that are trying to go “green” and save money it’s an obvious choice. The system is cost effective based on the ease of installation. There are no harmful pollutants that are emitted, zero Electro Magnetic Field emission and the maintenance is very low.

Compared to traditional heating, the heat rises from the floor, which eventually rises above to warm the walls, moldings, and furnishings, whereas with traditional heating the air is heated, but inefficiently circulated. Since the mats are evenly applied, the heat is distributed universally throughout the room.
Filters are not required to trap circulating dust and pollen, which promotes allergies and other health problems. The system even functions at a silent operation so you can relax and enjoy your time quietly as you feel the warmth from the electric floor heaters.

The heat level amount can be easily maintained in a house or office. The control unit can be precisely adjusted to your comfort and even programmed like a normal thermostat. In fact, you can control each individual room or office as you like.

There are many companies who sell and specialize in the manufacture of electric floor heaters. Feel free to check out this site to find out more information on these systems or try research at your local hardware store. You can find some great deals and other professional advice. With winter just around the corner, this is the best time to take advantage of this efficient heating system!

OTC Sleeping Pills

According to the National Center for Sleep Disorders Research at the National Institutes of Health, about 30-40 percent of adults say they have some symptoms of insomnia within a given year, and about 10-15 percent of adults say they have chronic insomnia.

There are many types of over the counter sleeping pills available today. Your doctor can help you decide which OTC sleeping pills will work for you, but it’s also good idea to understand the different types of insomnia. Insomnia is categorized by the length and severity of symptoms and its association with other disorders. You can find more info here.
