Rocket Racing League

I was watching the Science Channel earlier today and they had a show about the up and coming Rocket Racing League. It sounds like an exciting sport and they're trying to make it the NASCAR version of flying.

The interesting part of the show caught me off guard because of who was involved in the development of the engines. A company called, Armadillo Aerospace, which develops reusable rocket powered vehicles, is developing the rocket engines for these planes. The crazy thing is John Carmack was featured as the lead engineer on the project as well as a member of Armadillo Aerospace.

For those of you who don't know who John Carmack is, he was the lead programmer at id computer games, famous for games like Wolfentstein 3D, Doom, and Quake. He is best known for his innovations in 3D graphics.

Anyways, I thought that was a very intersting connection there. Speaking of 3D graphics and games, who's getting the new Call of Duty Black Ops? I know I am!
